Elster's IRM-3 DUO is a rotary gas meter that operates according to the positive displacement principle. This volumetric measurement principle ensures that measurement performance is independent of the installation setup, making these meters particularly suitable for compact measurement systems without extensive inlet sections. The instruments record gas volume under operating conditions and are certified for fiscal applications.

The IRM-3 DUO meters feature an innovative design with two phase-shifted impeller pairs, which form two separate measurement units. This configuration eliminates pulsations characteristic of conventional rotary gas meters, resulting in exceptionally quiet, resonance-free and virtually silent operation.

The number of rotations is directly proportional to the measured gas volume. The rotational movements are transmitted via a gear transmission to a mechanical index unit for volume registration. For volume correction, electronic volume correction devices(EK) can be integrated into the measuring system.
